When I married in 1989 and started a family, I wanted to be nearer to my home, where I could juggle the roles of a mother, my career, teacher, coach and chauffer! I raised three intelligent girls, athletes, (soccer, softball, water and snow-skiers) as well as accomplished vocalists, hence the chauffer attribute. They are all now college graduates with Bachelor’s degrees.

When renting, you have no control over rent increases. When you own your home and pay on a fixed mortgage, your principle and interest payment remain the same over the life of the loan until you own the home free and clear.#3- Owning Is Usually a Form of “Forced Savings”.
Studies have shown that homeowners have a net worth 44 TIMES GREATER than that of a renter. As a matter of fact, over a 5 year period from Q2 2018 through Q2 2023, the median home value in Utah increased from $300,000 to $490,000 [a $190,000 (63%) increase in value for an average $38,000 annual increase in value].#4- Owning Is a Hedge Against Inflation.
As we have all witnessed over the recent past, home values and rents tend to go up at or higher than the rate of inflation. When you purchase a home, your home’s value will protect you from that inflation.#5- There are still Substantial Tax Benefits to Owning.
